Charrúa Transmisora de Energía is a project awarded in 2013 that started operations at the end of 2017. It links the Charrúa substation in Cabrero (Biobío region) with the Ancoa substation in Colbún (Maule region). The purpose of this line is to strengthen the transmission capacity in the southern region, ensuring a greater support for the system and enabling better availability levels. This line also increases electricity transmission capacity from the hydropower plants in the Biobío, Maulé and Ñuble regions.
In 2024, the contract for the construction of the second circuit was awarded to Elecnor Chile, and the circuit is expected to come into operation in 2030.
