The 220 kV Valle del Chira Project encompasses the construction of the new Valle del Chira Substation (220/60/22.9 kV - 100 MVA) along with its corresponding loop-in/loop-out variants for the 220 kV Piura Oeste – Pariñas and 60 kV La Huaca – Sullana transmission lines.

Designed to strengthen the electrical system in northern Peru, this infrastructure ensures a continuous, reliable, and high-quality power supply. Its deployment optimizes grid operational capacity by resolving voltage drops and relieving transmission line congestion, directly boosting service reliability for the local population and regional growth. The project is divided into three infrastructure components:

  • Component 1: S.E. Valle del Chira 220/60/22.9 kV - 100 MVA.
  • Component 2: 220 kV Piura Oeste - Pariñas transmission line variant.
  • Component 3: 60 kV La Huaca - Sullana transmission line variant.

The main objectives of the project are to strengthen the operation of the electrical system in northern Peru to provide energy supply with adequate standards of quality and reliability of supply, as well as to contribute to the solution of technical problems in the system such as congestion on transmission lines and voltage drops at substation busbars.
