The Ministry of Energy considered this project necessary to supply demand in the area. This project involves the construction of a new transmission line between the Nueva Alto Melipilla substation, located in the metropolitan region, and the existing Agua Santa substation at Viña del Mar, in the Valparaíso region. The concession also covers two new substations and a sectioning with third-party lines.
